Ensuring our reporting meets stakeholder expectations

Comparable company information is important to a wide range of stakeholders. Our report content was prepared to global standards, and we engaged external suppliers to provide assurance over our non-financial disclosures. Details are provided below.

United Nations Global Compact

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative with the vision of creating a sustainable and inclusive global economy that delivers lasting benefits to people, communities and markets.

Communication on progress

The UNGC supports companies to do business responsibly by aligning their strategies and operations with Ten Principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

NAB’s Communication on Progress - outlining the practical actions we are taking to support the ten principles - is available on page 79 of our 2016 Dig Deeper report.

Sustainable Development Goals

The UNGC supports business in taking strategic actions to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an emphasis on collaboration and innovation. The SDGs were developed with input from the business community and agreed by all member states of the UN. The SDGs comprise 17 ambitious goals and 169 targets that seek to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger, promote economic growth and prosperity, improve health and education, and protect the planet.

NAB’s contribution to the SDGs is summarised on page 80 of our 2016 Dig Deeper report.

GRI Content Index

GRI is an international, independent organisation that helps businesses, governments and other organisations understand and communicate the impact of business on critical sustainability issues such as climate change, human rights, corruption and many others.

Our GRI Content Index, which can be found on page 75-78 of our 2016 Dig Deeper report., provides a guide to where information on our material impacts can be found throughout our annual reporting suite, and on our website.
